Mailert V1.0
============
Introduction
------------
Mailert is a small mail alert program for multiple KA9Q/Unix style mailboxes
(these mailboxes exist as a single file in an accessible mail directory).
Mailert will keep track of the new mail items in multiple mailboxes in a
single small window. Each mailbox can have a configurable tag (independent
of its filename).
The raison d'etre for Mailert is simply that I wanted a small window to tell
me which of my mailboxes has new mail. None of the (many) other mail
notification programs available seemed to be able to do this in the way that
I wanted.
Mailert is ideally suited to packages like KA9Q or WinDis which can deliver
to multiple local mail files.
If Mailert is almost-but-not-quite the mail notification program that you
want, then let me know and I will try to accommodate people's wish-lists.
Mailert is shareware, but registration is FREE. (See the section on
registration later).
Installation
------------
Unpack the files into a suitable directory, copying CTL3D.DLL into your
WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory if it is not already there.
Create a new program item in the Windows Program Manager for MAILERT.EXE, and
optionally copy this to the StartUp group.
Configuration
-------------
The first time you run Mailert, you will have to configure the users.
Mailert will not run without at least one user configured. In the "Configure
Mailert" dialogue, use the "Add" button to add users, configuring a Name and
Mail File for each user. The Poll Interval is in seconds and defaults to 30.
Once all users are configured, click OK and the Mailert window will appear.
You can return to the "Configure Mailert" dialogue at any time from the
"Configure..." item on the Mailert window System menu.
User Menus
----------
Pressing the right mouse button when the pointer is over one of the users
will pop up the User Menu for that user.
The "Configure..." option will allow you to reconfigure the mail file for
that user.
The "Reset" option resets the new mail count to zero.
The "Show Headers" option brings up a window containing the "From:" and
"Subject:" headers for all new mail messages. If there are no new mail
messages, this option will be greyed out.
Registration
------------
This program is shareware, but registration is FREE.
Registration is by email to mailert@bibbly.demon.co.uk - please supply a name
under which you would like to be registered.
Bugs, comments, suggestions
---------------------------
Bugs, comments and suggestions are all welcome, and should be sent to
mailert@bibbly.demon.co.uk
If you ask for something which is feasible, the chances are I will implement
it.
